ANOTHER IDEA FOR AN OLD WINDOW

BIRD PRINT ON OLD WINDOW

Hello all!

HERE’S ANOTHER NEW IDEA I FOUND ONLINE FOR YOU….I GET ALOT OF LANDINGS ON MY BLOG FOR THESE, SO I LIKE TO SHARE NEW ONES WITH YOU AS I FIND THEM.

FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT EITHER DON’T WANT TO DO OTHER TREATMENTS, OR THOSE THAT WANT A NICE LOOK EVEN IF YOU CAN’T PAINT, THIS ONE LOOKS PRETTY SIMPLE……

THIS OLD WINDOW HAS NO DIVIDERS, HAS ONLY ONE LARGE “PANE”, SO IT  WILL BE REAL EASY FOR YOU TO GET THIS LOOK.

LOOK IN FLEA MARKETS, GOODWILL,YARD SALES,ESTATE SALES,ETC., FOR LARGER PRINTS THAT YOU LIKE,WHETHER VINTAGE OR NEW, WHATEVER PRINT OR PICTURE THAT APPEALS TO YOU, OR…. DOWNLOAD CLIP ART FROM YOUR COMPUTER AND PRINT OUT WITH YOUR PRINTER.

THIS ONE LOOKS TO HAVE AN OLD BOTANICAL PRINT  OF BIRDS AND NEST WITH EGGS, SIMPLY GLUED AT THE CORNERS AND SIDES ON THE BACK OF THE OLD WINDOW.

MAKE SURE TO TAKE MEASUREMENTS OF THE INSIDE GLASS PORTION OF YOUR WINDOW TO KEEP WITH YOU WHEN YOU SHOP, AND THEN MEASURE YOUR PRINT TO SEE IF IT WILL FIT AS YOU WANT IT TO. YOU COULD ALSO TAKE A SMALLER PRINT TO A PRINT SHOP LIKE KINKO’S, ETC.,AND FOR A SMALL FEE, THEY CAN MAKE IT THE EXACT SIZE THAT YOU WANT. MOST PUBLIC LIBRARIES HAVE COPIERS ON HAND AS WELL, THAT YOU  CAN USE FOR A SMALL FEE , AND MAKE IT THE SIZE YOU WANT FOR YOUR WINDOW.

HAVE FUN!

  1. Oh, I like this idea, I made my husband keep a couple of the window panes from an old window we took off our house. Now, if I’ll ever get around to making something like this, is the only question.

  2. how do you glue or stick the print to the window?

    • Hi Michelle! Are you talking about the windows with the pictures, prints, etc on them?
If you are,I assume that people that have done these kind would probably use some sort of spray adhesive.
Of course, I would keep the original picture if it is important.
On the spray adhesive can, it says there are two ways you can do it: Either permantly,or temporary.
And this is only different by applying the spray adhesive, then waiting to put the print onto it based on the time on the back of the can for permanant, or temporary.
This is what I would use if I were making those windows.
Just make sure you do it outside so you don’t get any fumes from the spray.

You could also try using some double sided tape, and just put some pieces at each corner
and maybe a couple on each side if the print is large, that way, you could easily take it off
if you wanted to,say, change the picture/print out once in a while.
Either way, make sure the glass is clean, and start from the bottom and slowly put the print on,making sure there are no bubbles or wrinkles. YOu could also have it printed,or apply it to card stock, which would make it a little easier to apply without the worry of bubble or wrinkles.
There are many adhesives and glues out there, so you may want to use something else, but the spray adhesive
would definately be the way I would go.
Does this answer your question? If not please let me know.
I am happy to answer any question!
      Thanks,
      Peggy
